Supporting graduating students and current students who demonstrate academic achievement, leadership, community service, and a commitment to Krio culture and community development.

Number of Awards: 1–2 recipients

View Requirements

  • Applicants must:

    • Be a Georgia resident

    • Be of Krio descent

    • Have a minimum 3.0 GPA

    • Be a graduating Georgia high school senior accepted into college, university, vocational, or trade school
      or currently enrolled in college, university, vocational, or trade school

    • Show leadership in school or community

    • Be involved in community service and/or cultural activities

  • Before applying, please have the following ready:

    • Completed scholarship application form

    • Current transcript

    • Proof of acceptance or current enrollment

    • Resume

    • Personal essay

    • One letter of recommendation

  • Applicants must submit a 400–500 word essay answering one of the following:

    1. What does Krio culture mean to you, and how do you plan to promote it in your community?

    2. Describe a time you demonstrated leadership and how it impacted your community.

    3. How will education help you make a difference in your community or country?

  • Recipients may be asked to participate in KDU Georgia Chapter events and programs. Recipients are expected to uphold values that reflect the mission and vision of the KDU Georgia Chapter.
