A weekend of unforgettable memories, cultural pride, and meaningful connections!
The 2026 KDU Global Family Reunion, held September 3-6, 2026 in the Atlanta area and hosted by KDU Georgia Chapter, was a wonderful success! Families, friends, and Krio descendants came together from near and far to celebrate our shared heritage, reconnect with loved ones, and strengthen the bonds that unite our global community.
Under the theme “Sabi yu Kɔlchɔ” (Know Your Culture), the reunion reminded us of the importance of knowing where we come from, celebrating who we are, and preserving our traditions for generations to come.
More Than a Reunion: A Celebration of Who We Are
Throughout the weekend, attendees enjoyed a variety of activities, including the Meet & Greet, cultural symposium, Awujoh, Legacy Ball, thanksgiving services, youth activities, and our picnic, Tata, and Pan Lamp celebration.
Each gathering offered an opportunity to reconnect, share stories, celebrate our traditions, and create new memories with family and friends.
But beyond the celebrations, the reunion represented something much greater: the strength of a community united by its history, culture, and commitment to future generations.
One Heritage. Many Chapters. One Global Family.
The Krio Descendants Union (KDU) brings together people connected by their Krio ancestry and cultural heritage, with chapters and members working to preserve our traditions, strengthen family and community relationships, and pass our shared history on to the next generation.
While each chapter serves its own community through cultural, educational, and charitable initiatives, we are connected by a common purpose: honoring our roots, supporting one another, and ensuring that our heritage continues to thrive.
The Global Reunion brings that mission to life. It creates a space where generations can connect, young people can learn about their identity, and families from different communities can celebrate the traditions that make us who we are.
