Kite Flying at Regent Village 2025 – A Beautiful Easter Tradition Takes Flight
Every year, Regent Village comes alive with color, laughter, and the sound of excitement as families gather for the St. Charles Kite Flying Competition. What was once a beloved tradition from the 60s and 70s has now been beautifully revived, reminding all of us of the joy and creativity that kite flying brings to our community.
This year’s 2025 celebration was no different. Children, parents, elders, and visitors filled the open field, each person bringing their own sense of pride and nostalgia to the event. From homemade bamboo-framed kites to bright colorful designs dancing in the sky, the atmosphere felt both timeless and new. It was one of those days where you couldn’t help but smile.
One of the highlights of the event was watching contestants of all ages pour their passion into the competition. After a fun-filled day of friendly rivalry and impressive kite craftsmanship, we proudly celebrated this year’s winners:
Celebrating our 2025 champions: John Sesay, Winston Harding, and Pazia Knox-Goba, for their outstanding kite flying skills and sportsmanship.

Their excitement, along with the cheers from the crowd, captured the heart of what this event is all about, community, creativity, and culture.
The St. Charles Kite Organisation has played a huge role in keeping this tradition alive, and each year the event continues to grow in energy and participation. Seeing the sky filled with kites once again reminds us how important it is to preserve the customs that bring us together.
Below, you’ll find some of our favorite photos from the day, along with the full video recap of the event. We hope it brings you the same joy it brought us, because in Regent Village, every Easter Monday is a reminder to look up, celebrate, and soar.
